CBFN and General News:

Boat Raffle Tickets due April 24th

$50 Candlewood Lake Boat Sticker is being proposed

Old Business:

 Clubs shirts have been ordered.  The cost of one shirt is app. $34 and the second shirt is the full cost of $90. 

Club Used Tackle Sale is being held at the Italian Fraternal Club in New Britain on March 22nd . The Event is held from 9 -1.

Collection of club membership dues are being collected and national and state rosters will be updated.

 

New Business:

·         Jay Cap will be the club’s representative at the March CBFN meeting. 

·         Boater – Non-Boater cycle was drawn and will be posted on MidConn’s Website  

·         New members, George, Larry, Dan, Karl, Joe, were welcomed to the club

·         Money Collected for MidConnAngler’s March Madness Pool

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance 2473.48 Tournament Shirts (388)

Tournament Report:

  • No Report

 

CBFN and General News:

  • Voted on By-Law proposals
  • Many of the changes were verbiage from BASS to CBFN.  
  • Club voted no on 3 consecutive meetings missed proposal

Old Business:

  • Discussed tournament shirts.  New shirts cost $60.  We will vote next meeting on colors and patterns. 
  • Club agreed on 20 active member list with 8-10 members on inactive list. 
  • Finalized club schedule

New Business:

  • Club officers will remain for the upcoming year
  • Proposed Bylaw Changes

1.       Boaters must pay their own launch fees

2.       Each month a delegate from the club will be appointed to attend the CBFN meeting

3.       The club will increase dues from $25 to $30 for returning members.  That will cover each returning member’s dinner at the banquet. 

4.        Our Bylaws will align with the CBFN’s

·         Club agreed to host February meeting at the Cabela’s conference room.  The meeting time may be changed.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance 3225.48  Dave reimbursed, $125, Deposit $220 tourney, Ending Balance $3320.48

 

Tournament Report:

  • Congratulations to Dave Mongrain for his winning weight of 10.95. 
  • Also to Dave S. and Jay for there 2nd and 3rd place finishes. 
  • The permit for the Candlewood Tourney is from 8 -4 at Lattins Cove. 
  • The Fun Tourney permit for Webster MA is in as well as Congamond. 

 

CBFN and General News:

  • A guest speaker from the DEP spoke on the killing of the weeds.  Towns and locals are actually the ones killing weeds. 
  • The Federation Candlewood Tourney Application is due on May 25th.

Old Business:

  • Tournament shirts are not receiving a high feedback as far as patterns and colors go.  If there is limited interest we will put the thought on hold.  Patches may be an option if the shirts are not of high interest. 
  • Dino, Mark Kirley, and Adam are due to have non-boaters.
  • Guest Tournament – will be used for shirts to be purchased at a later date.  The tournament will be switched June 17th at East Twin.  All of the proceeds from the tournament will go into a general fund.
  • Fun Tournamet – The pairings will drawn based on the AOY standings.  The club is looking for at least 10 people for 5 teams.
  •    There was no fund raiser this month. 

New Business:

  • Tournaments fees paid for.
  • Poker Tourney tentatively scheduled for June 22.

April 2007 Meeting Minutes

Treasurer’s Report: Tackle sale - $178 for the Middletown Frisbee team,   Total earnings for the tackle sale were $182.72.  Currently our club balance is $3225.48

 

Tournament Report: All of the permits are in for our tournaments are in including Webster Lake.   

 

CBFN and General News:

  • Riverside launch will be opened for Memorial Day.
  • Scholarship fund application is due on Apr. 1
  • Amos Lake has Bass virus.  DEP looking for a cure for it.  A small off shoot of the Connecticut River has a water chestnut issue which is controllable. 
  • Youth Federation will cook at the end of each Fed Tournament. 
  • Tournament Committee has its 20 person quota.  The new scale and software has been ordered. 
  • Tickets will be dispersed tonight and must be back by the July meeting.  A check will be issued from MidConn.  The Boat was donated and the tickets cost just over $400.  The state is looking to make a good profit.
  • Sponsors are disappointed about the kickback they are getting from advertising.  They are looking to hear that the sponsorship is working.

Old Business:

·        Bass Club Digest is available. 

·        Bi-Laws Available

·        CT Fed Applications are available.   There is a $25 late fee if the mail is not postmarked by Apr. 6th

·        The phone tree is completely updated and will be available soon. 

·        SeaTow is a $99 fee and you must use them because the DEP will not assist breakdowns. 

·        Boater / Non-Boater schedule is set and available.

·        Tackle sale - $158.96 profit. 

·        Club Tourney Shirts -  Fund raising ideas bring a guest to the tournament and have them fish for a separate lunker.  The date was set at June 9th at Candlewood.

·        Dave wins the March Madness Pool – and $10

New Business:

  • Raffle Tickets Dispersed
  • Insurance Collected – Anthony, Ron, and Mike Billings
  • 50/50 raffle pool – AND THE WINNER IS MIKE C.
  • Reimbursement request of $125 to Dave S. passed
  • Reimbursement request of $60 to Adam B. passed
  • Motion to form a committee ( Chris, Mark, Dave S., Dave M., Jay Cap.) to oversee the shirts being created.  Committee to research prowearone.com website.

March 2007 Meeting Minutes

  • Review and approval of last month’s meeting minutes

Treasurer’s Report:

 Treasury Balance – 3,284.25

 Fun Tourney Balance – $231 

Tournament Report:

 All Permits are in

CBFN and General News:

  • DEP Presentation – Fishing License will stay $20.  Salt Water Fresh Water Combo License is $25.  Salt Water License is $15.  Hunting/ Fresh/ Salt Water License is $30. 
  • Increased Funds - Expand Urban Fishing programs, Stocking Programs, Help maintain officer positions, youth programs.
  • Fed thanks midconn for volunteering at both shows. 
  • Increase in funding for new fed purchases.
  • Candlewood Lake Authority – Wants the to charge $20 for a sticker to launch. Meeting is scheduled on March 10th. 
  • Raffle Report – Over  2000 tickets sold for the boat.
  • Budget is being double checked to make sure all incoming and outgoing payments are accounted for. 
  • Motion passed national tournament winnings should go back into the CTFN.  Based on how our state team finishes the Fed will receive up to 50%.    

Old Business:

  • Fun Tournament Pool Money Collected
  • Hartford fishing show was a success for ticket sales.
  • MidConn Tag Sale is gaining in popularity.  Tournament Force is donating lots of product.  There are 18-20 tables sold or being used by club members. 
  • Club Phone List was updated.

 

New Business:

·        Bass Club Digest Issues were passed out.

·        March Madness pool - $5 entry fee

·        Please make a copy of your insurance to hand in to the secretary

·        Boater non-boater cycle drawn.

·        MidConn forum introduced to the website Subheadings- (General Chatter, Fishing Reports, Tournament News)

February 2007 Meeting Minutes

 

Call meeting to order: 7:19

Secretary Report:

 

 Adam was reimbursed   

 

Treasurer’s Report:

   $430.10 as of now real balance of 2660.10

    Account will be turned over to Jay once checks clear.

   Fun Tourney is up to $221

Tournament Report:

   There is no information about the out of state fun tourney.  More to come.   All  MidConn tourneys are set for ‘07

 

CBFN and General News:

  • 1/25/07 Northeast Utilities is the new site.  Fed saving money with new site.  Tourney funds raised and new weigh system bought and will be utilized at all state tourneys.  The new oxygenated trough will aid in saving fish.  Also, the anglers will receive a printed ticket with his weight on it.     The motion to raise the fees was not passed.  The old fees of $50 and $25 will stand.  An application for any state tourney must be received 15 days.  All applications 8 days before a tourney will be charged a $25 late fee.  The late fee is non refundable. 

 

  • The federation is looking for new membership.  The state federation is looking for feedback and ideas as to how we can get “new blood” in the state fed.  Midconn members gave several suggestions for how to improve and publicize the image of the state fed and BASS.  ( Red Cross Blood Drive, Take over call in sick, Lake Clean up, )

 

  • February 14th Break Through Magnet School is hosting a youth fishing event. 

 

  • There is an outside source that is offering $200 to the club that does the most for conservation.

 

Old Business:

  • Club Dues Collected
  • Please send pictures to Jay for your profile.  If you need help, you can write a hard copy for Jay to place in your bio.  Meeting minutes have a password and login in name as of now.  Motion passed to remove both.
  • Casting Kids Booth at the Boat Show was a huge success for MidConn Anglers.
  • Banquet-FUN, FUN, FUN ( New Awards Golden Banana and Skunk Award)
  • Tag Sale March 10th from 9-2.  Looking for members to donate time, shopping bags, and friends that can donate free stuff. 
  • Please sign up for the super bowl squares.

 

New Business:

  • Bassmaster’s Classic Challenge ‘07
  • Midconn Poker Tournament February 17th at Jay’s house P.M. 6:00.  $15 entry fee with a 10 dollar re-buy. 
  • Bylaws packets were distributed.  Members encouraged to read and review how tournaments are run. 
  • Adam reimbursed $100 for new club members. 
  • Motion to reimburse Kamil $30 for the club dinner not carried.
  • Motion passed to start making midconn long sleeve t-shirts.

January 2007 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order:

Secretary Report:

Absent: Pete Borquin, Jordan Jaquo, Kamil Stachowicz, Tim Talento, Jeremy Vitelli, and Mike Shaw

Treasurer’s Report:

  • $1838.26 in club balance
  • Projected budget overview and proposed changes for 2008 – Audit committee determined that if changes were not made the club would be bankrupt in 4 years.  Proposed changes will be discussed for 2008 at the November 2007 meeting.

Tournament Report:

  • Webster lake fun tournament, permit still outstanding
  • 10 tournament dates posted online, all permits received 

CBFN and General News:

  • Members asked to help with governing of youth fishing program
  • Fishing shows coming this January, free admission with volunteering
  • Federation trail entry fee increase ($70 for a boater and $40 for a non-boater), new rules and weigh–in procedures (Water trough, life jacket issues, etc.)
  • New safety propositions
  • April 15th 2 tournaments (Ice Out and Hospice)

Old Business:

  • Toys for tots = Success
  • Fees still owed for fantasy football
  • Sat. Jan. 27th J. Timothy’s Banquet (5 to 8pm)
  • Individual profiles being made for members (still waiting on a few members)
  • Bylaw revisions are in and will be handed out next meeting

New Business:

  • Motion to reimburse Adam $19.01 for scale, passed
  • Membership dues paid by:
  • Fishing tag sale to be held at Middletown high school around early March (Motion passed)
  • Address new members, 18 current members, 7 available spots open, 8 new people have shown interest
  • Should we allow 26 members this year and break our commitment to 25, or hold it as a first come first serve and keep it at 25 members, period?
  • (7) For sticking to our guns with 25 members, (4) for admitting the 8th one.
  • Gave new members disclaimer about club atmosphere and the “good time” attitude versus complaining and nitpicking.
  • Boater cycle reviewed
